This is a Barcelona Lounge Chair, model 250LS, initially designed by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in 1929. This example was produced by Knoll in the United States in 1990. It features a solid, hand-polished stainless-steel frame (vs. the more commonly seen chrome-plated editions) and has cushions upholstered in a toffee brown or dark tan leather. The retail price of this chair was over double the cost of a standard chrome Barcelona chair, rendering it very special indeed.
The chair measures 30 inches long, 29.5 inches wide, and 30.25 inches high. The seat height is 17 inches. There is no Knoll engraving on the frame (knoll did not engrave the frames until the late 1990s/early 2000s), but the Knoll tags remain. The leather does show some minor wear especially on the straps, which is typical. There is also some light patina on the metal frame. Overall, this chair is in very good vintage condition.
